NVO BRC Housing Driver

JOB SUMMARY

The BRC Housing Driver will use Burning Man Project fleet or rental vehicles to tow and place travel trailers over the entire event season. The driver is responsible for safely delivering trailers from off playa staging and living spaces to Black Rock City site pre-event, or moving trailers from Black Rock City to off playa staging and housing areas post-event.  The driver must coordinate with the BRC Housing team for the pick-up and delivery of Burning Man assets in a timely and safe manner, following all standard operating procedures (SOPs). 


 

This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt role, based in Gerlach, NV running from July thru October, 2025.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Trailer Transport (85%)

  • Skillfully hitch, tow, and place travel trailers.
  • Coordinate with other teams as directed to fulfill hualing and placement requests. 
  • Prepare travel trailers for towing following all safety standards and BRC Housing Towing SOPs.
  • Communicate any concerns about transportation safety, be it with the trailer, the route or the weather with the BRC Housing Manager. 
  • Maintain situational awareness of environmental hazards or obstacles in designated routes.
  • Ensure that the hauling vehicle is adequately equipped with safety equipment and the truck is prepared for work. 
  • Place travel trailers in their final location and prepare trailers for occupants. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Record Keeping (10%) 

                                                                                                

  • Work with housing dispatch to report any repair needs in MaintainX and maintain a log of placement locations of transported trailers. 
  • Perform daily pre and post delivery maintenance and safety inspections on issued fleet vehicles.
  • Prepare written and/or verbal reports and feedback to the BRC Housing Manager detailing successes and pinch points of your operations.
  • Keep detailed vehicle log books.


 

Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)

  • Attend team meetings as directed. 
  • Abide by the Burning Man’s staff policies, protocols and behavioral standards.


 

LEARNING AND TEACHING

  • Documentation - Assists in the creation, publishing, and maintenance of process documentation related to their assigned duties.
  • Knowledge sharing – Helps acculturate and educate junior staff in Burning Man culture and business processes.
  • Training development - Collaborates with the education team to develop training materials in their area of expertise, as requested.


 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

REQUIRED

  • Ability to adjust schedule seasonally to work at the Burning Man event held in Nevada.
  • Skilled and proficient in towing various types and sizes of travel trailers with the ability to back trailers into tight spaces. 
  • Experience using Google suite.
  • Communication, organization, and time management skills. 
  • Team player with the ability to work in tight quarters with others and maintain a tidy work environment. 

 

PREFERRED

  • It is helpful if the candidate has previously been to Burning Man and/or is familiar with its culture.
  • Working knowledge of database entry.
  • Experience working on projects in remote wilderness and/or desert environments.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

 

  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

 

COMPENSATION: 

Individual compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors, including prior experience and geographical location. The anticipated pay rate for this position is $17.00 to $19.00 per hour.


 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Off-playa:  Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.
  • On-playa:  This position requires periods of heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing. This position will be physically demanding, and requires individuals with good physical health, and endurance. Work will include the need to find and meet with department representatives who may not be in the vicinity therefore this could include walking or using some form of transportation. Much of the work will be in outside weather conditions and will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles as well as possible extremes in temperature.
