Black Rock Saloon Crew Volunteer
Here at the Black Rock Saloon, we aspire to provide a welcoming, safe, and positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors. The Black Rock Saloon is the Burning Man Project & Nevada Operations private social club, acting as a gathering house for staff and volunteers during the event cycle. We hold space, serve drinks, and host private parties during the pre and post season. During the Burning Man event, we help out at the DPW Bar and with the Collexodus crew in Black Rock City. You will have the opportunity to meet and interact with people from all walks of life! You will gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry and develop transferable skills such as team collaboration, communication, and customer service!
During Burning Man, we will provide you space in our staff camp to pitch a tent or park a trailer, three meals a day from our wonderful commissary, and daily showers. After Burning Man, we will provide housing or a space for you to park your trailer and power as well as 3 meals a day from the NVO Kitchen. You will also receive a staff credential/ticket to Burning Man as a thank you for your time and energy!
Date and time frame of role:
- During Event (September 1st - September 8th) - Daily check in, 4 hours per day
- Post Event (September 4th - October 10th) - 35 hours per week
Must-have talents***:
- Ability to adjust schedule seasonally and relocate for the duration of the Pre - Post Event season
- Maintain a positive attitude and promote a welcoming atmosphere for crew members
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization
- Ability to maneuver in a fast-paced environment
Nice-to-have talents***:
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage well with others
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
- Willingness to volunteer evenings and weekends
- Previous bar or hospitality experience is preferred but not required
List of potential tasks***:
- Assist with daily bar prep & breakdown
- Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the shift
- Collect empty glasses, clean tables, and dispose of trash and recycling
- Follow all safety and health regulations, as well as our policies and procedures
